South Africa's R7 million Gaming Lounge  Print
Move over home setups because there is a new gaming lounge in town and it's about to blow your mind! A R7 million gaming lounge has just opened up in Claremont, Cape Town and gamers are making sure they get a seat at a PC station fit for a gaming king. The genius behind the gaming lounge is a former hedge fund investor, Warren Barhuizen who saw how fast esports and gaming is growing in South Africa and took the opportunity to be a part of it. It took Barhuizen a while to get the lounge up and running as no one believed in his concept but eventually managed to get a space where the lounge could become a reality.
The ATK Arena is equipped with top of the range gaming equipment and gadgets such as the best PC's that are worth R60,000 each, Corsair T1 Race gaming chairs that are designed for those long gaming days and nights worth R5,965 each, VR, car-racing rigs and a streaming studio that you can rent out! Something that has become a hit is gaming parties at the lounge. As we all know the game that has taken the world by storm is Fortnite, Fortnite parties are a hit and the most popular game played at the lounge. The lounge is available to rent for birthday parties, LANs, private and corporate functions and more.
The venue has become very popular amongst gamers and not just for the kids, but for parents as well. Barhuizen encourages anyone and everyone to give gaming a try and have some fun as it can change peoples perception on gaming. Not only is it cost efficient for you to go to the lounge to play your favorite games, but it cancels out you having to carry around your whole pc for LANs. After playing online together for 2 years, 2 kids met at the ATK Arena and played together next to each other for the first time, an amazing way of bringing people together. The goal for Barkhuizen is that the ATK Arena will become the place for all local esports teams to compete and practice in.
You are probably wondering, well to play at the ATK Arena must cost a pretty penny. so how much does it cost? Well, there is no need to empty your bank accounts to have a couple of hours of fun as entrance into the lounge only costs you R20 and then every hour you play on the computer costs you R80. The longer you stay and play, the cheaper the price gets and if you become a regular and part of the furniture of the ATK Arena, there are memberships available as well in 4 different packages.
